Truly Esthetic

Variolink N is a dual-cure and light-cure luting composite for glass-ceramic, lithium disilicate glass-ceramic and composite resin restorations. The esthetic luting resin from the N-Cement Collection is characterized by a high radiopacity and harmonious shade spectrum.

The special amine-reduced cement Varliolink N LC produces optimum results, particularly in anterior teeth. This solely light-cure material enables very thin (< 2 mm) and highly translucent restorations to be seated esthetically. Variolink N LC is available in the following versions: Clear, +1 and +2.

Advantages

  • Highly esthetic results
  • Dual-cure and light-cure materials in seven shades
  • High radiopacity

Indications
Variolink N is suitable for the cementation of indirect restorations made of leucite-reinforced glass-ceramics (IPS Empress), lithium disilicate glass-ceramics (IPS e.max CAD/Press) and composite resins (SR Nexco), for example

  • Veneers
  • Inlay/Onlays
  • Crowns

Direction to Use

Removal of Temporary Restoration and Cleaning:

  • Begin by removing any temporary restoration from the tooth cavity using appropriate dental instruments.
  • Clean the cavity and the prepared tooth by removing any residue from the temporary luting composite. Use a polishing brush and an oil- and fluoride-free cleaning paste (e.g., Proxyt fluoride-free).
  • Rinse the cleaned area with water.

Preparation of Restoration Surfaces:

  • If you are working with composite or fiber-reinforced composite restorations, follow the manufacturer's instructions for blasting the restoration surfaces.
  • If necessary, clean the restoration in an ultrasonic unit for about 1 minute.
  • Thoroughly rinse the restoration with a water spray and dry it with oil-free air.

Application of Primer Agent:

  • Apply a primer agent (e.g., Monobond N or Monobond-S) to the pre-treated surfaces using a brush or micro brush.
  • Allow the primer agent to react for 60 seconds.
  • Disperse the excess primer agent using a strong stream of air. Ensure that the surfaces remain uncontaminated.

Pre-treatment of the Cavity (for enamel and dentin):

  • To protect adjacent teeth and facilitate excess material removal, use a matrix band in the proximal regions.
  • Apply N-Etch (37% phosphoric acid gel) to the prepared enamel and, if necessary, to the dentin. Follow the recommended etching times.
  • Remove the etchant gel by rinsing it vigorously with water for at least 5 seconds.
  • Ensure that the dentin surface remains slightly wet and shimmering (wet bonding). Remove excess moisture with appropriate methods, such as an air gun or dry brush.

Application of Variolink N:

  • Depending on the type of restoration (inlays, onlays, crowns, veneers), follow the specific instructions provided in the Intro Pack.

Polymerization (Curing):

  • Polymerize Variolink N segment by segment, starting with the proximal margins.
  • Use a curing light with the appropriate light intensity as recommended by the manufacturer. Follow the recommended curing times based on the light source.

Finishing and Polishing of the Restoration:

  • Use finishing and polishing strips in the proximal regions to achieve the desired finish.
  • Check occlusion and function and make any necessary corrections.
